Objectives.

Regenerative approaches to design promote a co-evolutionary, partnered relationship between human and natural systems rather than a managerial one and, in doing so, one that builds, rather than diminishes, social and natural capital. Rather than all buildings having the same performance goals, such as net-zero energy, performance requirements would be more appropriately shaped by opportunities for creative synergies with neighbouring buildings. Eco-positive design that leads to enhanced conditions relative to those existing before is an essential requirement within such an approach.

Topics.
  • Energy positive/carbon negative buildings
  • Closed-loop water solutions for buildings
  • Buildings that are net positive with respect to human well-being
  • Synergistic links between buildings and other lessons for neighbourhood application
  • Implications of net positive approaches for performance metrics and rating systems
